Personal:

I was born in Moscow, Russia in '68, where I started running sprint events in '83. I moved to the US (NYC area) in '91 and didn't run again till '96 when I discovered road racing scene. I was hooked after my first 5K race. I had another break in running from '01-'04 and decided to seriously get back into it in August of '05. I'm married and have 16 year old daughter. I have moved to London in August '06, will probably stay here for a few years.

Maybe it was a bit much, but I went 3 miles today. My lungs hurt whenever I sped up (usually due to slight downhill), so I had to back off the pace even more, as if I wasn't going as a turtle already. I made it, but I don't think I will increase the distance anymore until some weeks later. My heart took half an hour to get back to normal after I finished and I'm still a little short of breath. I didn't wear HRM because I wouldn't be able to see my HR in the dark anyway. I think I got a little carried away, so happy that I can run again.

The weather is still cold - there was even wet snow yesterday! I coudln't believe it, it's so rare to get snow in London, let alone at the end of March. Today I ran wearing wind breaker and gloves. But the forecast has steady warming this week, and 1 April is supposed to be 16C (~65F). Of course, it's 1 April, so not putting too much faith into this forecast.

Total time: 28:53 (9:37 pace).

Thanks Benn! Yes, I started feeling much better in the last 2 weeks, and my doctor cleared me to start running. But I'm not fully recovered yet, by far. It's going to take few more months I think, but at least I can start getting back into shape.

I think the runners personality is to get carried away. It is why we do such silly things like run 26.2 miles. I am so glad you are albe to get out there and run. Keep on truckin.
