Personal:

I was born in Moscow, Russia in '68, where I started running sprint events in '83. I moved to the US (NYC area) in '91 and didn't run again till '96 when I discovered road racing scene. I was hooked after my first 5K race. I had another break in running from '01-'04 and decided to seriously get back into it in August of '05. I'm married and have 16 year old daughter. I have moved to London in August '06, will probably stay here for a few years.

This is a cumulative entry since beginning of the year to get my mileage up to date. As is obvious from the mileage above, I haven't been running much. The biggest mileage week I had this year was a meager 22 miles. The main reason is lack of motivation to train hard, and when I don't train hard, I find it dificult to train at all. I know it doesn't make much sense, and it's not an excuse, but that's how it is for me.

I'm trying to get excited now for the track season ahead, and I have a 10 mile race scheduled next Sunday, so I'm trying to re-invent my running. I also want to lose about 10 lbs that crept up over the last couple of years.

Edit: I moved the miles to the last week, as I noticed that I got on top of the Mileage Board when I put all my miles in this week - it certainly was not intended!

This has been the longest run this year. I have a 10 miler next Sunday, so I think I can finish it, but the best I can hope for is 9 min./mi  pace. I still have not decided if I should go to the race at all. I have to return the chip anyway, and they give out a nice beer glass to all finishers, so I'm trying to pump myself up for that. It's also a nice flat course along the Thames towpath, so could be a nice run if the weather cooperates (or a miserable one if it rains). But it's hard to get excited about racing when I'm so out of shape. I'll have to treat is just as a training run if I go.

Total time: 1:16.05 (9:23 pace).

I was wondering what happened to you. Nice to see you blogging again.

Thanks Sasha. I was being a "lost sheep". I'll try to be a better sheep from now on.

The weather was fantastic today, a perfect shorts and t-shirt day, 15C. But I felt heavy and fat - just the way I actually am right now - and slogged through my 6 miles without much enjoyment.

Total time: 56:24 (9:24 pace).

Where are you?

From Maria on Wed, Aug 19, 2009 at 17:21:38 from 90.192.241.42

I am still here. I am running, just haven't been blogging here. There is really nothing worth mentioning about my runs, just putting in the miles.

If you've run, it is always worth mentioning!

Hi Brent!

So glad to hear from you!! How are you?? I'm still in London and running. I got into London marathon this year, but got injured a month ago during half marathon, which I did as a training run. I had to take 3 weeks off to heal, and now my leg is fine, but the time for training has been lost. I will probably transfer my place to next year. Are you on Facebook? You can find me there (Maria Imas) - it's a good way to keep in touch!

Maria.

Fast Running Blog is better :-) With only one very part time and artistically challenged programmer the interface does not match Facebook, but it is functional, and the crowd consists of runners. Plus you can see the workouts in an organized manner.
