Short-Term Running Goals:

Rebuild my fitness after a bout of PE (pulmonary embolism). Get my weekly mileage in the 35-40 range.

Long-Term Running Goals:

My ultimate goal in running is to come as close to my potential as possible given complete lack of talent. It would be fantastic to break 3hrs in the marathon, but I don't know whether this is possible. My age is going to become a factor very soon, if not already. All I can do is try, train hard and smart, and hope for the best.

Personal:

I was born in Moscow, Russia in '68, where I started running sprint events in '83. I moved to the US (NYC area) in '91 and didn't run again till '96 when I discovered road racing scene. I was hooked after my first 5K race. I had another break in running from '01-'04 and decided to seriously get back into it in August of '05. I'm married and have 14 year old daughter. I have moved to London in August '06, will probably stay here for a few years.

Starting back again after another 3 week break due to business trip to Germany. I went for an easy 4 miler and felt as good as can be expected. I was slow, but not slower than I thought I would be. I will try to go to some cross country races this fall and winter, to help me with motivation. I was actually supposed to run 10 mile race tomorrow and was registered and got my number in the mail, but had to last month when it was clear that I will have to take Lisa to a swimming meet both today and tomorrow.

Total time: 39:43 (9:14 pace)

Easy 4 miler, nothing special. Felt a little heavy and got some weird pain behind my left knee. Probably some ligament in the hamstring.

Total time: 39:57 (9:17 pace).

Went a little longer today. It was wet, but the rain stopped by the time I got out. Perfect running temperature, around 50F. Felt pretty good!

Total time; 46:28 (9:17 pace).
